[ValleyNature] 66 Wolfville chimney swifts May 27/10 + summary to date

MAY 27, 2010 - Robie Tufts Nature Centre in Wolfville at dusk: 66+  
chimney swifts counted as they dropped into the chimney for the night  
-- I watched from 8:46 to 9:15 p.m. (Sunset 8:46) -- 11 C., quite  
cool, fairly stiff wind from north, sky about 80% clear and clearing?  
-- I saw one swift drop into the chimney at 8:47, but then no more  
until 8:58, when 20 and then 40 + 3 more to 9:00, and 1 more  
straggler at 9:04.  Observers were Lauren Park and Jim Wolford plus  
Sarah McGuire and Mary-Claire Sanderson.  The latter two are students  
of Marty Leonard of Dalhousie Univ. and are doing studies locally  
near Gaspereau of tree swallows in nest-boxes.

 From Sarah and Mary-Claire I learned that they had done chimney  
swift observations at the RTNC in Wolfville on May 21/10 and I had  
not noticed that they had signed in their data on the sheets that we  
have provided there:

May 21, 2010 -- RTNC, Wolfville -- 44 chimney swifts 	counted at dusk  
as they entered the chimney -- weather 	"clear and cool" -- period of  
watching was 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. (Sunset was 8:41) -- entry times were  
8:57 to 9:25 (?? -- it must have been very dark by then?) --  
observers Sarah McGuire, Mary-Claire Sanderson, and Hendrick Reers  
(all students studying tree swallows under Marty Leonard of 	 
Dalhousie Univ.).
