May 11, 2010 - Pat Dix saw and photographed at Greenwich a white-
crowned sparrow with no tail feathers (?), and, along the Cape Split
trail Nancy Nickerson heard and saw a male eastern towhee.
Here are Nancy's exact words re her towhee: "I saw and heard a male
Eastern Towhee on the Cape Split trail just after 11:00 this morning.
For those familiar with the trail, as you’re heading out to the tip,
the main area of spring wildflowers (Spring Beauty, Purple Trillium,
Dutchman’s Breeches etc.) starts more or less on an uphill slope and
continues past the crest of the hill, where the trail becomes level
again. The bird was about 50 metres past the crest of that hill."
