[ValleyNature] Sightings - Port George/Margaretsville - May 3

Alison and I drove along the Bay of Fundy through Port Lorne, Port 
George, Margaretsville on Sunday and had a marvelous time sighting sea 
birds. We had been to St.Croix Cove to monitor some Nature Conservancy 
property there and were heading home to Cambridge. It was nice to read 
the reports of Gary Myers and Patrick Giffin for the same day for that area.

Along the coast from the wharf to the lighthouse at Port George, we 
counted 20 Harlequins, with most being males. Near the wharf we sighted  
small groups of both Surf and Black Scoters plus Eiders. We missed the 
Long-tailed Duck seen by the Giffins. There were a couple of Common 
Loons in the water there. We hardly paid attention to the Great 
Black-backs and Herring Gulls along shore.

At the Margaretsville wharf there were more Eider ducks and Surf Scoter 
but there was also a Black Guillemot and a Red-necked Grebe diving and 
feeding off the point. Earlier we had surveyed the pond west of the 
village and watched the Hooded Mergansers there with a couple of Black 
ducks.

It was near 6 pm by the time we hit Margaretsville and decided not to go 
to Morden so we missed the large flock of Surf Scoters mentioned by Gary.
