March 27:
Avonport, N.S.
(1) First spring sighting of nice Great Blue Heron. It was wading
among stranded iceblocks in the tidal marsh this afternoon following
high tide.
(2) Nice closeup sighting of Pileated Woodpecker checking out a power
pole at the roadside.
(3) 25 Canada Geese in flight near the mouth of the Avon River
Pugwash Jct (close vicinity of my mother's feeder table)
(1) a flock containing Grackles and male Red-wing Blackbirds around
my mother's table feeder
(2) and one Am Tree Sparrow still coming to my mother's table feeder
(3) half doz Evening Grosbeak
(4) Pileated Woodpecker calling within earshot
Pugwash area enroute to Avonport
(1) Field full of White-tailed Deer apparently grazing on old hay on
hillside where the snow had melted. I counted 18 ( photo taken)
(2) Half dozen Am Robin in a roadside field.
